Following on from it’s UK Blu-Ray (and DVD) release earlier this week, Netflix UK have now added Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume, otherwise known in Japan as Suzume no Tojimari, on to its streaming platform. The film is available to stream in both English & Japanese (with English subtitles).
Synopsis:
On the other side of the door, was time in its entirety—
Suzume is a coming-of-age story for the 17-year-old protagonist, Suzume, set in various disaster-stricken locations across Japan, where she must close doors causing devastation.
Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu (located in southwestern Japan) when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly drawn by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob… Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.

Suzume, which saw a cinematic release in the UK last year is now available to stream on Netflix UK in both English & Japanese (with English subtitles). The film is also available to stream on Crunchyroll in the UK, and has been since last November, and a physical Blu-Ray (and DVD) release of Suzume was released earlier this week. A 4K Blu-Ray release of Suzume has also been confirmed, but has yet to receive a release date.
Makoto Shinkai’s other iconic films, namely Your Name and Weathering With You, are not currently available to stream on Netflix UK, but they can be streamed for a limited time through the Channel 4 streaming service. The Garden of Words on the other hand is also available on Netflix UK.
