New retail listings at SHOUT! Factory Store and Crunchyroll Store in America have revealed that Anime Limited (otherwise known as All The Anime) are planning to release season 1 of the Netflix animated series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray in the UK.
At the time of writing an official announcement from Anime Limited about this release has yet to be made, however the beauty shot of the product on the SHOUT! Factory Store and Crunchyroll Store not only show BBFC age ratings on the discs (which would only be used in the UK) but they also include the Anime Limited logos on the product. Based on these inclusions we can safely assume this product is also planned for a UK release, with Anime Limited handling the UK and SHOUT! Factory handling the US.
As you can see from the beauty shot this Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray release of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 – Season 1 will feature the entire first season across 3 Blu-Ray Discs presented in a fold-out styled digi-pack case that slides into a rigid art box. This Collector’s Edition will also feature a 100 page booklet, an A3 poster and 4 Art Cards. The Blu-Ray discs meanwhile will also have bonus features such as Behind the Scenes content, a CG Breakdown of scenes from the series, interviews and trailers.
Synopsis: In the year 2045, after an economic disaster known as the Simultaneous Global Default which destroyed the value of all forms of paper and electronic currency, the “Big 4” nations of the world are engaged in a state of never-ending “Sustainable War” to keep the economy going. In this world, Mokoto, Batou and other members of Public Security Section 9 have contracted themselves out as mercenaries under the group “GHOST”, using their cybernetic enhancements and battle experience to earn a living while defusing hot-spots across the globe. However, the emergence of “Post Humans” and a conspiracy uncovered by former Chief Aramaki force Section 9 to reunite.
So why exactly has a UK related product appeared on US storefronts? Well it seems Anime Limited have partnered with SHOUT! Factory in order to release it in the US, with the product being listed at retailers before an official announcement has been made. At the moment the US release is scheduled for 30th July 2024, so if Anime Limited are releasing this set in the UK (and are aiming for a near simultaneous release) then it is possible it might be released on 29th July 2024.
