Stop. Making. This. Episode.
Impressions:
And we come to our holiday/weekend marathon of new shows just like we began, with low effort cheat power RPG world garbage. At least, I assume. It’s been a while. It’s barely three seconds into the episode and the dude’s already pulling up the status screen to look at stats, followed by more looking at stats. Then we go through all the standard stuff. Accidentally killed. God spits him into Oz. Rescues his harem, the world’s two most perfect children, also with cheat powers, to have that be explained too in a few minutes. But don’t worry, we’ve still yet to explain that there’s an adventurer’s guild, that you fulfill requests, that we’re going to be grinding slimes and gathering weeds. We started at the point where this tutorializing wasn’t needed when John RPG invented the RPG 60 years ago out of paperclips, sandpaper, and a large child he mistook for a dwarf. I have seen this crap in anime at least 70 times now. Please just move on.
Not that there’s anything here to move on to, mind you. The animation alone is close to the worst of the season. As is standard, the kids are the most perfect children imaginable. Instantly bonded to the protagonist like lost puppies and intrinsically incapable of doing anything wrong. I’d include saying anything wrong too, but they’re largely mute until the very end. Just perfect little not-slaves that tag along and people occasionally yell “SO CUTE” or punch out Bully McBullyton. In other words, utterly superficial and devoid of any ambition or even thought of actually being about children, raising children, or adventuring, despite its titles claims.
