Boy, we sure like to end episodes with people shot in the head, don’t we?
Impressions:
Not that I believe for a moment that not-Harry Osborn is actally dead, as he’s pretty much the only one who makes any sense to have set up the kidnapping and tried to take advantage of it for no discernable reason. It’s had to even tell at all what they’re doing with this arc though, as we get a brief glimpse of the real E-Soul, and apparently he hasn’t been doing anything super hero-y, but is also not seemingly corrupt or insecure about someone threatening him. So… what does he do, and what is he doing? Other than pull-ups constantly.
But the real anchor on this arc continues to be the main character. He is such a boring, pathetic pill. He doesn’t do jack squat the entire episode except for one very half-assed fight against some rando bank robbers. When framed for staging the events of the previous episode, he has a panic attack. When his crush talks to him, he whimpers and mewls. He even takes the fun out of mass-electrocuting children by making pitiful sniveling stammers. I guess we also get confirmation that this is all taking place before the Nice arc by the big bad from it showing up in his ‘good’ persona before he went crazy, but honestly, that feels like a bad retcon too since he was always presented as a talk show gotcha-dude who went off the deep end. This arc is just bad, especially with so little action to carry it.
