Yan魇: Parasomnia brings narrative horror and Asian Folklore to Steam

Nimbus Games Sdn. Bhd. is currently developing the narrative horror themed game Yan魇: Parasomnia, otherwise known simply as Parasomnia, to Windows PC in the near future and a playable demo is available to download on Steam.

Parasomnia draws inspiration from Asian folklore and classic survival horror-titles such as Parasite Eve and Resident Evil with its fixed camera perspective to deliver a retro-styled horror-puzzle experience for players. In the game players will take control of the Wan Siblings as they explore the spiritual realm, solve puzzles, and survive the phantoms that roam the area in hopes of returning home and uncovering truths behind the disappearances in the area.

About: Yan魇: Parasomnia is a narrative horror game which blends its Asian background of folklore. Roam the various Spirit Domains to uncover and ultimately stop a sinister plot.

Wan Zhi Min and Zhi Han, an average-seeming sister and brother duo, who are involved (against their will) in a ritual centred around their old home. Neighbourhood children have been disappearing, and a string of unexplained suicides haunts the once peaceful Wallace Court.

To make matters worse, it is now the Hungry Ghost Festival, a time which is said to be when the barriers separating the real from unreal are at its thinnest. Spirits released from Diyu freely roam the halls and corridors. As you explore, these malicious entities will attempt to drag your soul back into the underworld with them.

Parasomnia is currently in developed for Windows PC and is expected to release later this year on steam. A playable demo is also available, and offers a glimpse at what the full game will offer.
