Anime Diary #14

Oh is it time for another anime diary update, it always creeps up on me fast ahaha

Winter weather is beginning to set in just this week even though we’re in the last month of Autumn. We’ve had splendid warmer weather up until now and as I write this I am wearing my first jumper of the year. Where has the time gone since my last diary update Jesus. . . I can tell you I have been a busy bee with podcast prep of episodes and pushing myself to enter some AMV competitions that accept overseas entries. Even amongst all that I have been keeping up with regular anime watching and it’s all over the place right now but I’ve managed to whittle my seasonal stuff to Friday nights. The rest of the time is whatever I feel like. Lately I have been in an all out mood for watching things that have been on my crunchyroll list for ages and I see that continuing into the next couple of months.

I tell you there have been a lot of good shows and sequel continuation in the spring season, I broke my seasonal ban for the year due to this fact so let’s see what my watching has looked like for the last while.

Witch Hat Atelier

To see this series get an adaptation I honestly was surprised, this is a series I would have been more than okay with not getting an adaptation because the manga is art itself. Seven to eight years this has been in the works because the animation expectation was beyond high. The artwork by the author is beyond amazing and it’s a given this series expectations were more than hype but about art. Throughout the whole process the mangaka has been a part of the whole proceeding so we know their analyses of everything would be a big consideration.

Honestly I am beyond happy with the adaptation from the animation to the glorious choices of english voicing, Quifrey’s voice sends chills down my spine. The passion and excursion I have felt from the current airing episodes, the series is a spellbinding adventure and so fun. Though not without highlighting the taboo of magic within this witch’s good Vs bad society. I have been following the manga before the anime was announced and it’s so hard to not be invested in this tall tale of magic and wonder. No-one is given a wand and they say here you go, you’re entering into the Harry potter world where there are rules and consequences if magic is used and abused. Ah it is a wonderful series and watching weekly gives me new thrills so if you haven’t checked this out I do have to say this time WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?

The Duke Of Death And His Maid

If you could never touch the one you love due to a vicious curse you have no idea who cast it. Bocchan bestowed a cruel fate, living alone in a mansion with his two servants and one who is his true love, Alice. I started watching this as 3D CGI, it looked cool and it was well done. I am currently finishing the second season and it is not what I expected it to be. The cast of characters are a humorous bunch and have been laughing most episodes, Alice is not your innocent maid with her subtle seductive moments towards the duke. Haha hilarious it is just pure agony for the duke when these moments happen, cruel Alice. Was it necessary to stretch out the clues of who cast the duke with curse over three seasons? No I feel two seasons would have sufficed honestly but I am this invested to know now but thought I’d point that out because potentially there are skippable episodes. The skippable episodes you can scope over are of their everyday life in some episodes, not all, but it does drag a little. Regardless I actually like this series, I can’t wait for the end result. It’s a charming series and worth your time if you’re looking for something not plot heavy.

The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom

I was in the mood between the last anime update for something campy to watch and even though I am sick of all the excess villaness series coming out. This one didn’t irritate me haha. If you want a true campy, otome romance series then this is it honestly. The fairytale endless endings you can choose to cater to your needs but Tiararose doesn’t get that option as the supposed villainess about to be done in. Then dreamy prince aqua from another otome sequel game comes to save the day and who knows how things will end for anyone. It suited and fitted my needs for watching at the time, haha.

Vampire Princess Miyu Trying to keep the old anime going this one has been taking a while to get through, there are reasons for that but I am liking it. This 90s supernatural has a ruthless streak about it when it comes to the plot involving Miyu, a teenage girl chosen as the guardian to banish the evil Shimna of the world and pray on humans hearts and minds. I have been taking this series at a slower pace and it is an interesting watch more than I originally thought. Definitely a series that has been mentioned but no-one near enough to me that is well known so this series could potentially be on my podcast, you’ll have to find out if I do!

A Star Brighter Than The Sun

I have amazon prime and forget there is anime on there. . . Again I was looking for comfort and romance is always the go to. Oh my goodness this childhood friends anime, no series on this trope has got me like this one did. Sae and Kamishiro the introspective lens you’re looking through all the time of how one another feels for others is so heartfelt. It is impossible for it not to take you to your CHILDHOOD PEOPLE! Sure the end result may feel like a drag out at first but the drawing conclusion is worth it! And the best part!! We have a SEASON 2 COMING. Everything will be developing even more and I am here for it, childhood friends yearning for steady gripping and two characters who are too pure for their own good. Don’t sleep on this romance comfort watch ahaha!

Pardon The Intrusion! I’m Home!

Office woman, a secret anime fan and lives next door to either hot guy. One is too kind to Rinko and the other tempered rages and the author of Rinko’s favourite anime? Oh the chaos. This is the perfect afterwork watch after a long day for those secret closest otaku that will find every relation. I have been watching this on my lunch breaks once a week at work when an episode comes out and it is the perfect watch for me in this circumstance.

Dr Stone Season Final

The long anticipated conclusion is pending as the kingdom of science is building their spaceship to the moon, once and for all discover the truth. I’ve been in the long haul with this one for the last few years and truly it is a great series! Basilisk Samurai anime ooo well I can tell you I will be talking about this title. It has so many things I am loving about it. Old school, betrayal, clan divide , interesting Samurai techniques, cut throat gore and it is definitely a class unknown title no-one has been talking about. I have been trying to go outside my usual old anime choices and it is paying off, I needed an action watch and this is hitting the spot!

Sorry if the post looks wonky I just discovered you can no longer use classic editor if you don’t have a paid plan. . . DICKHEAD WORDPRESS!! I will have to navigate this shit now so hopefully next post looks better haha!

Hope you enjoyed the read regardless!
