In response to a question on X (formally Twitter) Anime Limited, otherwise known as All The Anime, have revealed that the upcoming UK cinema screenings of Episodes 1 and 2 from the THE GHOST IN THE SHELL TV Anime series will be shown “exclusively with the English Dub“.
This response suggests, or albeit confirms, that the planned UK cinema screenings of THE GHOST IN THE SHELL (Episodes 1 & 2) will only be available to watch in English Dub format. The preview of Episodes 1 and 2 will be available at participating cinemas from the 26th June 2026.
It was expected that the screenings would be in Japanese (with English subtitles), so it is surprising to see that it will be screened in its English Dub format. This response also means that those wanting to watch the series in subtitled format will have to wait until it begins its simulcast broadcast in July, which is currently expected to be on (or around) the 7th July 2026 through Amazon Prime Video.
Synopsis: The year is 2029. In near-future Japan, where the world has become highly information-intensive, with a vast corporate network covering the planet, electrons and light pulsing through it. But the nation-state and ethnic groups still survive. Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg, leads an elite combat unit, including Batou. While commanding her team, Kusanagi envisions the creation of a specialized task force to preemptively strike against emerging threats. Meanwhile, Daisuke Aramaki of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who had been planning to establish a similar unit, recruited Kusanagi and her team. Together, they begin operations as Public Security Section 9—an offensive tactical unit known as “Shell Squad.” As they confront complex cybercrimes and international conspiracies, the existence of a mysterious, unidentified hacker known as The “Puppet Master” emerges on the horizon of their investigation. What fate awaits Kusanagi? And what is the Puppet Master’s true objective? A new era of cyberpunk action begins.
