MAGES, in partnership with distributors Spike Chunsoft and Reef Entertainment, have recently revealed that STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, will feature a brand new “Gamma Worldline” Route when it releases for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC in October this year.
The Gamma Wordline Route is an entirely new route within STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT and further expands the already expansive world of STEINS;GATE. This particular world line sees Rintaro Okabe without the time machine, D-Mail or any device capable of altering the past. A new trailer has also been released showcasing moment from this particular route of the game.
About Gamma Worldline Route: After enduring countless brutal ordeals, protagonist Rintaro Okabe finds himself cast into a new worldline. In this world, the time machine was never completed, and D-Mails, messages capable of altering the past, do not exist. Vastly diverging from the worldline he knows, Okabe struggles to comprehend the situation. Seeking help, he rushes to the lab, only to be met with hostile stares from the very lab members who should be his friends.
In this additional route, the story depicts a Gamma Worldline, where the persona of Hououin Kyouma, the driving force behind the main story, never existed. Instead, Okabe dirties his hands alongside Moeka Kiryu and is confronted with loneliness and despair.
As a reminder STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will receive a physical release on the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 with a steelbook edition also featuring a new cover illustration by Character Designer huke. Pre-orders for both physical editions are currently available on the Spike Chunsoft store, but are expecting to appear soon at participating retailers.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a remake of the original STEINS;GATE game that released in 2009 onto the Xbox 360 in Japan, and will feature updated visuals and new narrative content. STEINS;GATE is a time-travelling visual novel experience with multiple endings and uniquely crafted artwork, and as such this RE:BOOT edition will feature refined character illustrations by character designer huke, along with event stills produced under huke’s supervision. Additionally background visuals will once again re-create Akihabara, and its surrounding area, as it appeared in 2010 by utilizing reference material.
