Somethings of Something #12 — Flashbang to the Face

Appropriate reaction to a monologue.

Impressions:

I genuinely don’t know what this show is even trying to do at this point. Presumably they already have a season 2 confirmed and just not announced, but even then, it’s just going to end next week and go away for a long time, with only maybe one of its plot threads being wrapped up. Obviously shades of Ghost Concert, but that was more cohesive with its characters. The entire first half of this episode was a fight between two groups that literally did not exist two episodes ago, just to Prove Their Worth. And is won by fading to black, cut to everybody dead. Oh wait, no. Knocked out. Thanks for clarifying. It’s very important that this band of nobodies stick around. The only amusing part was how the idiot kept trying to monologue at the end and getting flashbangs and smoke bombs to the face for her troubles.

And then there’s the supposed protagonist’s half of the episode. Where he’s going to train, get a change of clothes, also it’s half a week later somehow, all so that he can… you guessed it, Prove His Worth. By overcoming his crippling… fear of death or something? Because her power is actually about that, not cutting people? And they need to clarify all this because he no longer fears swords thanks to that one power that doesn’t grant him full immunity to swords, but does fear death. Sure, whatever. Stand there, clench your fist, and declare your resolve for the… I can’t even say dozenth time. More like the third. Because you’ve barely shown up, and are barely present now, pissing about with some girl who’s not even mad about the same thing that made her run off in the first place, instead of dealing with the looming apocalypse. Priorities, people.
