Hej då, Lara #07 — Dating Artists

Hold on, why is his sister alone in a shack?

Impressions:

I’ll admit that I do kind of like this dude as an agent of chaos. Particularly the moment where he went off to buy some croquettes on their date and wolfed down both in front of her. That’s the kind of power move I like to see. That said, it’s obviously just meant to be that he’s a socially awkward art kid. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Lara, who continues to basically not be an entity in this show around her. She could have PTSD from how Prince 1.0 treated her, or be desperate to get with him because he’s the destined whatever she’s looking for.

Instead, she’s nothing. She has no thoughts on this. She just goes along with… whatever. She has no opinions on things. He asks her out, and so she goes. He tells her to text her, and so she does. With hardly a thought in her head about any of it. Her mission to find her beloved, or any questions about why this dude looks the exact same are absent. She’s just doing what she’s told without any thoughts. Also, the fish in the sky is a magic knife, or the reincarnation of her desire to steal the prince’s soul? Which she shattered to save him? And now she’s scared of finding love? Except even that is immediately dispelled by him just saying “but I LIKE you.” And it’s right back to blankly staring. What’s worse here? The completely incomprehensible magic side of things, or the utter void of its character and emotional side?
