Bandai Namco Entertainment have recently revealed that Echoes of Aincrad, which launched on 10th July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, will receive a brand-new story expansion known as Genesis Maidens.
Scheduled for release in Winter 2026 this new premium DLC experience will introduce a new story Mito, or Misumi Tozawa, from the Sword Art Online: Progressive movies as a new ally for your team as you work together in exploring Levels 1 and 2 of Aincrad. The addition of Mito also introduces a new weapon type, the curved sword, and this DLC also adds a new system of enhancing armors.
In Echoes of Aincrad, players can create their own character and become the hero of their own story as they find themselves trapped in a dangerous video game where virtual death in the floating castle of Aincrad means death in real life. Along the way you’ll also encounter familiar faces from the anime and light novel story. Those interested in experiencing the game themselves can also download and play the demo that is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
About: Echoes of Aincrad invites adventurers into a dynamic and vibrant world filled with challenges and unforgettable encounters, becoming a “player” in the game through an extensive avatar customization will place them as the true hero of this story. As the story progresses through quests and missions, players will be able to adapt and upgrade their equipment, weapons, and attributes, and select special skills to match their preferred playstyle while growing stronger as they level up. Echoes of Aincrad is currently available worldwide on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S & Windows PC (via Steam) and this Genesis Maidens DLC is expected to be released in Winter 2026.
