Toho Acquires Anime Limited (All The Anime) and will Operate as subsidiary of Toho Global

In some rather interesting, and potentially rather exciting news, Anime Limited (All The Anime) have today announced through the All The Anime Blog that they have been acquired by the Japanese entertainment company Toho (TOHO Co., Ltd.) and will operate as a subsidiary of Toho Global, which is Toho’s consolidated subsidiary overseeing overseas business.

Previously Anime Limited was owned by the PLAION Pictures, which acquired Anime Limited back in October 2022, but now PLAION Pictures have agreed that 100% equity share of UK-based distribution will be passed on to Toho and with Anime Limited becoming a subsidiary of Toho Global. As part of this acquisition Anime Limited will retain all of its existing staff, including Andrew Partridge as Managing Director, and will allow Toho immediate film distribution, home video, TV sales, and merchandise and licensing capabilities in the UK and France.

So, what exactly does this mean for the UK and anime releases from Anime Limited? Well, most likely it will be business as usual, but with the potential for more products to be released (especially those owned by Toho in Japan). In the past year Toho have been expanding internationally and earlier this year they acquired GKIDS in the US. Acquiring Anime Limited is another step in expanding the Toho brand outside of Japan, and in securing Anime Limited they now have a distribution network in both Europe and North America.

Further details relating to this acquisition can be found on the official website.
