…Are we serious about this?
Impressions:
This show continues its trip straight down. A hyperbolic time chamber? For a training arc? Really? Oh, excuse me, a hyberbolic virtual reality time chamber. Give me a goddamned break. You’re creating contrivances in order to get around the other contrivances you never needed to introduce in the first place. And for what? The new dude got his power up because Red pretended to betray them, so the ‘training’ montage that ate up half the episode had nothing to do with anything. It was just an excuse to put them in high school. And I guess get them half naked.
Unfortunately, the action is also following suit. The songs pass me right by if they’re meant to be fanservice, and the ‘fights’ themselves are only a hair above the old series. As soon as they’ve declare their character growth and powered up, fight’s instantly over. Which is especially kind of funny for that one antagonist dude who appeared to be reduced to a smoldering corpse after his 10 seconds of screen time. Why even bother having him exist at all? The jank-ass CGI monsters were more featured than him. Oh, right. The obligatory references. What’s truly important in this show, and why my interest is cratering. That, and how fewer and fewer people are gratuitously liquified each week.
