BLACK TORCH #01 — More Cat Violence

Stamp out toxoplasmosis.

Impressions:

Making things easy to start on a marathon day with an utterly banal Jump thing with sub-mediocre production. He’s a punk with special abilities who befriends spirits. Oops, the spirit he befriended is actually a super demon and he gets himself killed protecting it. It merges with him and he gets recruited/kidnapped by the team of fellow teenage super fighting whatevers. The characters and plot are copy pasted from a hundred other Jump things. The action scenes take fifteen minutes to get to, and are just dudes teleporting behind each other to then one-shot the other. No choreography or even declarations that he’s going to fight for what he believes in despite how all you stodgy old people feel about tradition. Also, there’s a girl. You can tell that she’s a girl all the low camera angle shots of her ass.

It… exists. No cheat powers, so automatically in the top half of this season, but that’s the only praise I’m giving it. There’s a lot to get through, so let’s continue.
