They apparently really are short and squat.
Impressions:
I’ll never escape the spectre of the past. Specifically Absolutely Lovely Children, a show in a kid’s bloc right after One Piece and Pretty Cure that I actually really enjoyed, and now every time something comes up in a similar time bloc, I wonder if it might actually also be decent. To be fair, there used to be a lot more actually notable shows in this time bloc. Not just AT-X had its fanservice-at-10-am weird program where it loved to stick Queen’s Blade and other similar things, but stuff like Combat Butler, Space Brothers, etc. Not always stuff I liked, but actual shows. I think now it’s just been devoured by various long-running sports franchises that trade the slot back and forth.
Oh? This golfing show? The one brought to us by the discerning audience of Weekly Golf Digest? Pfft. Whatever. It’s a kids’ golfing show.
“She’s going to try to use a 3-iron to escape a bunker? You can’t use a 3-iron to escape a bunker. It’s impossible to escape a bunker using a 3-iron.”
“She did it!? She escaped a bunker with a 3-iron!? But that’s impossible!”
With that level of depth and airing right after a show about collecting all the cards, being overly critical is uncalled for. I thought about making fun of the horses, but then I Googled them, and no, that’s an actual flavor of small, squat horse. And unlike the pan over the golf course, not even CGI! I’d rather talk about the new Eushully demo, but I’ll probably do a full post on that, though that too is kind of eating at the nostalgia since they haven’t changed any of their interface sound effects in like twenty years now.
