New listings in the New & Popular section of the Netflix application have revealed that the anime series Dr. Stone and Jujutsu Kaisen, along with the feature-length-film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, will be joining the streaming platform in the UK on 1st May 2024.
At the time of writing it is unclear how many seasons of each series will be added, but based on the template (reminder) pages currently listed we assume that only the first season of Dr. Stone and Jujutsu Kaisen will be added. As with recent anime additions to the Netflix streaming platform we also expect that each series will have English & Japanese (with English subtitle) options available.
Dr. Stone: After five years of harboring unspoken feelings, high-schooler Taiju Ooki is finally ready to confess his love to Yuzuriha Ogawa. Just when Taiju begins his confession however, a blinding green light strikes the Earth and petrifies mankind around the world—turning every single human into stone.
Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to find the modern world completely nonexistent, as nature has flourished in the years humanity stood still. Among a stone world of statues, Taiju encounters one other living human: his science-loving friend Senkuu, who has been active for a few months. Taiju learns that Senkuu has developed a grand scheme—to launch the complete revival of civilization with science. Taiju’s brawn and Senkuu’s brains combine to forge a formidable partnership, and they soon uncover a method to revive those petrified. However, Senkuu’s master plan is threatened when his ideologies are challenged by those who awaken. All the while, the reason for mankind’s petrification remains unknown.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Violent misfortunes frequently occur around 16-year-old Yuuta Okkotsu, a timid victim of high school bullying. Yuuta is saddled with a monstrous curse, a power that dishes out brutal revenge against his bullies. Rika Orimoto, Yuuta’s curse, is a shadow from his tragic childhood and a potentially lethal threat to anyone who dares wrong him.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by Curses, he eats the finger of the Double-Faced Specter, taking the Curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with the Double-Faced Specter. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the Curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
We’ll know more about these additions to Netflix UK once they becomes available on 1st May 2024. In the meantime all of these series are available to watch on Crunchyroll and these titles have also been released on Blu-Ray and DVD in the UK.
