Impressions:
This will absolutely go down as one of the pettier complaints I’ve had, but three straight minutes of extremely loud slurping sounds dredged up quite a bit of misophonia PTSD from years of working in restaurants and especially time around disgusting small children and more specifically the adults who encouraged “eating disgustingly is a fun game” during pandemic times and set me into a bad mood right from the start. Going right from that into “Okarun screams a lot” and from there into “extra ‘hilarious’ rom-com misunderstandings because they’re so cliche,” ending on the rapist dick-aliens returning to be the next monster of the fortnight. was less than ideal for what I prefer to see.
But I’d say any content that focuses on him at this point is pretty damned since they don’t seem to want to actually grow or develop him, just use him as the screaming butt of jokes and have the girls blush at his innate heroism when he says banal things like “people who need help should be helped.” This episode did nothing to change that. The entire misunderstanding bit was the worst part. Yet another thing that could have been resolved in three seconds that instead took five minutes to yell about how they had to first explain that there was a misunderstanding and then mope over it instead of either just apologizing immediately or saying what the misunderstanding was, let alone giving someone the benefit of the doubt for even a moment. The pink thing also gets a transformation, I guess, but she hasn’t been winning me over either.
