Back to the regularly scheduled complaining about mediocre anime.
Impressions:
Oh boy, an episode of almost entirely recap. What is there to even say about this? Or if anything, we reverted, as there’s now a second Neumann that lives in his phone which isn’t AS evil, lest we forget that she was completely fine with the original genocide plan. She, like every other character in this episode, exists only to recap. And even she was handled incredibly stupidly, with him just wandering around with the phone held out, then going “Oh no, this should probably be kept a secret. Oops. Too late. Well, anyway, time for more exposition.” And everyone was just… sure, a non-evil AI copy that lives on a phone seems entirely reasonable.
Even the big thing at the end that Einstein is still alive is pretty whatever, and the logic that the mark she was leaving was actually a secret clue specifically for Touya was tortured at absolute best, and will no doubt lead to another 5 minutes of tortured exposition for how she knew he was alive and not brainjacked like everybody else. But really, she hasn’t been much of an entity to start with AND, again, was fine with Team Genocide as long as they were genociding the right people, so who even cares whether or not she’s alive? Probably just an excuse to kill Newton instead so she can lament over him.
