Couldn’t you just steal some replays from online set play? Come on, guys.
Impressions:
The funniest part was the end when they were supposedly actually playing Street Fighter 6. There were multiple cuts that made no sense whatsoever. They play one match, and Pink gets (essentially) double perfected. Then they start a second, and it suddenly smash cuts to Final Round, meaning that both of them won a round. Yet Brown is blown away that all of a sudden, Pink is holding her own. Despite having already lost a round to her. In the middle of this, it cuts to her face to show her frustration while the game audio is still playing in the background, and when it cuts back to the game, she lost 90% of her health despite having taken no hits in the 5 seconds it was off her. And, again, she’s gobstruck that she lost a round, despite this being the second round she lost. It’s also worth pointing out that she missed the most obvious kill in the world in the first set because both of them are apparently incapable of ever using meter, which I should also point out, their meter going into the final round was exactly identical. Just another example of how they could’ve even both to get a couple actual even novice players to play out something that even looked like a real match for this farce.
Sure, that’s more attention to detail than it deserves, but isn’t that the point? Isn’t this supposed to be a love letter to fighting games? So it should be excoriated for half-assing it and putting in the absolute minimum effort to look like an actual game of SF6 to only people unfamiliar with it. But also, what else is there to say about the rest? It’s the same girls-in-a-club thing as always, with rich girl school angle, same as that one about rock bands last year, and almost a shot for shot copy-paste of everything it had, including random blood getting splattered around. This time from biting their lips to show their passion instead of finger callouses. She makes stupid faces, overreacts, and wibbles over fitting in while sparklies and flowers explode around the popular girl who holds the big secret of being really into whatever the hobby du jour is. The only new thing that this is bringing is an advertisement for Street Fighter 6, brought to you by people who don’t play or watch Street Fighter 6.
