Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Available Digitally Now with Physical Due in October

Nintendo have today released the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on to the Nintendo eShop as both a digital upgrade pack, priced at £7.99, or as a bundle package, costing £58.99. The Nintendo Switch Edition 2 features updated performance and visuals as well as new content. A free update has also been released for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country on Nintendo Switch 2 which introduces 4K Resolution (TV) and 1080p (handheld) with 60fps.

This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 features support for 4K resolution in TV Mode, and up to 60fps in TV and Handheld modes and smoother textures. Those who already own Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for just £7.99 through the Nintendo eShop, alternatively the game is available digitally for £58.99 from the Nintendo eShop with a physical version due in October.

New Rare Blade: MOMO: Battle alongside MOMO, a new Rare Blade available exclusively in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Swap between MOMO’s two modes – Real Mode and Imaginary Mode – on the fly to change not only her appearance, but also her elemental affinity. MOMO also has her own Blade quest “The Home of the Soul” that can be unlocked during your adventure.

Unlock new styles for Pyra and Mythra: Customise the look of Pyra and Mythra with new styles exclusive to this Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. You’ll see these new looks both during gameplay and in cutscenes.

Those that purchase the digital version of the game will receive both the original Nintendo Switch game and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack, meaning they can play the game on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The physical version will also be comaptible on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, but the enhancements and new content (found within Nintendo Switch 2 Edition) will only be playable on Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition DOES NOT include any downloadable content and these would have to be purchased separately from the Nintendo eShop. That being said, a free update has also been released for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country which introduces new resolutions and framerates when played on a Nintendo Switch 2 console. Thus bringing the the experience on par with other Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Xenoblade Chronicle titles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is now available digitally Nintendo eShop, but a physical version will be released on the 1st October 2026. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country is available as part of the expansion pass or can be purchased as a stand-a-lone game physically, but it may be out of print now.
