To Be Hero X #24 — Dangling Threads

Boy, I hope nobody was expecting any answers.

Impressions:

Well, I hadn’t actually been paying attention and wasn’t aware that this was the last episode, but I guess if there’s one thing completely on brand for the To Be Hero franchise, it’s having a godawful ending, and boy howdy, was this horrendous. Yes, I know a second season was confirmed a while back, but that doesn’t absolve this ending of being as bad as it was. If we want to focus on the positive, at least the first half was another approximately eight minute action scene in the same vein as the original promo that generated all the hype for the show. And I guess the dog got to hang around a little more, though it suddenly wanting to kill/stop X made zero sense.

And that’s where the positive run out, because the entire second half was a baffling monologue of nonsense. If you were hoping literally anything would be wrapped up at all, even in an unsatisfying manner, you’re out of luck. It just recaps Zero’s backstory about being the first hero who turned evil, and that everything is connected, in case you somehow missed that the heroes with the same names, appearances, and backstories were the same people. And then it just unceremoniously ends. On a ten minute recap. To be continued in… uhhh… 2028 if it takes as long from its original PV as this season? Probably with another 10 minute recap. I guess at least someone’s out here animating the hell out of things, but please, for god’s sake, hire an actual writer. Maybe even two.
