Love Through a Prism Review — B-

Love at art school in early 1900s Britain with a Japanese exchange student.

I always like the historical settings, and that was no different this time. However, as with the other recent Netflix show (although not nearly that bad), it did feel like a superficial and childish historical imagination. Everyone is basically modern-day Japanese people with some superficial cultural differences.

Kit (the male lead) is so fucking annoying. I don’t understand what Lilly sees in him, aside from being hot and his dreamy looks into the distance while he paints. Guy is selfish and an ass to everyone and treats her like shit. If he learned from his mistakes or something then ok but he really doesn’t. He continues to be a selfish ass right until the end of the show. Sigh.

Otherwise, I thought it dragged on for a bit too long, the overenthused side characters were annoying, and don’t get me started on the principal.

Storytelling – B – It was fine.
Voice – B – Historical setting although I have reservations.
Characters – C – They weren’t bad, but also didn’t grab me.
Attention Grab – B – Kept my interest to the end.
Production – B – Looks great at times.
Overall – B-
