Disgusting animals, really.
This show completely slipped my mind since it airs super late on a Tuesday. Though it feels like it’s already fallen into a rut and I’m not sure I would’ve missed anything had I already given up. We’ll see how I feel next week.
Impressions:
I feel like this show thinks it’s far more clever than it actually is. Both the reveal that these aliens are actually tanuki, and the reveal that the humans they stumbled on were all dead. It’s hard to even think that either of these were meant to be hidden at all, but then the reveals dramatically come. Not just come, but we have to sit through a long infodump about how they’re… tanuki aliens, and so do tanuki things, like poop literally everywhere. And then in case you missed that joke, they poop everywhere. Again.
So it’s kind of a repeat from the previous episode, where the joke was “I’m an X, and I do X things.” This time, the noun is tanuki rather than alien, and judging by the ED, we may be stuck on this for a while, if not the entire rest of the show. And so she screams loudly. And then I think the writers were chafing because all of a sudden it became a video game and went for the complete non-sequitur gag. And then… everything was just fixed. Because she screamed at them incoherently. Was that part of the joke too? I can’t even tell any more.
