Lotta monologuing this week.
Impressions:
Oh right. This show is blithely continuing on for another 12 or 13 episodes. New OP and ED too. Well, it’s been acceptable enough as a baseline, though this episode wasn’t one of the better ones. Especially the whole first half about Arc and Claude’s backstory. She was raised as a cultist, rescued, re-kidnapped right after discovering she was a cavalier necromancer, and then showed up for revenge. Claude’s dark secret of why he supposedly abandoned people? Nobody realized that Arc was evil… or had gone missing for that matter… and he was just trying to drag the fight away from from the students. And he also thought she was dead. So why was this all so important to keep a secret? Especially considering he thought she was dead and ended up fighting just outside the building anyway? For the drama, I guess. Seems like you could’ve just omitted her name for the surprise twist, or even ‘attacked’ them to force them away. Either one would be a better excuse to be hated.
But that dispensed with, it’s time for a soft reboot. Tour through all the characters, old and to be focused on in the second half of the show, and first up is the Leo girl, with a side of maid fanservice. Ever green in anime. Which is actually something of a relief, since it looked for a moment like it was instead ditching all of them to do a whole schtick of fellow plant mages, starting with a dude who literally steps up and LITERALLY says “Looks like you need a man to explain this,” before delivering an obnoxiously long flopsweat of exposition dump about magic plant books. So yeah, maids and the werelion girl are a relief in comparison.
