I like how everybody’s clothing is pristine at the end of a shift.
I need to get the dogs out before the heat. I see other (awful) shows like Rearguard already up. I’ll deal with it in an hour or two.
Impressions:
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an anime end with a straight up direct advertisement for the manga incorporated into it before. And a tone deaf one at that. 1995 was a terrible decade, wracked by horrible disasters and terrorist attacks… BUT IT ALSO HAD IRON WOK JAN, THE BELOVED MANGA THAT TOOK THE WORLD BY STORM! Who is this even for? People are already watching your dumbass show to even see it.
Aaaanyway, it’s another shounen cooking show. Over the top with gigantic impossible displays for completely empty restaurants which are also supposedly the best ever, while at the same time having the understanding of kitchen life and cooking expected of a 12 year old. Which is also the emotional age of every character, especially the pissy bullies. But he also likes to yell at and belittle people that he can do whatever they say the focus of their dish is better than them. You say your veal is rich? Well, he can make something richer! Taste? Flavor? Spices? Nah, just about ‘richness.’ End of character traits. Sprinkle in some fun facts about food from Wikipedia, or kitchen clothing since we’re covering all our bases, and about five seconds of cooking sizzle reel, and there’s your entire episode.
